SWFL KFR is passionately owned and operated by First Responders, Veterans, and
their families! We have an incredible story to share, as we've found that
working with ornamental Koi is truly healing for First Responders and veterans
facing service-related PTSD. The dedicated men and women who have devoted
their lives to rescuing others bring that same loving spirit to the care of
our beloved fin children!
Imagine spending years gracefully swimming in a backyard pond, only to be
abandoned when your owners move, lose interest, or can't care for
you.  Many are left
without food or proper care, while others are released into lakes and canals
where they face disease, injury, starvation, or become a threat to Florida's
delicate ecosystem.
At the Southwest Florida Koi Fish Rescue Foundation,we believe these incredible fish deserve better.
Every day, we answer calls from people desperate to find a safe place for koi
that have nowhere else to go. We rescue neglected and abandoned fish, provide
treatment, restore health, and give a second chance 
placing in loving, responsible homes. We don't turn away because a fish is old, injured, or requires extensive care. Every life entrusted to us
matters.
But rescue comes at a cost.
The ponds that provide safe refuge require constant maintenance. Powerful
filtration systems must run around the clock. Water quality must be carefully
monitored. Nutritious food, medications, electricity, equipment repairs,
transportation, and emergency care are all essential to keeping our rescued
koi healthy and thriving.
Unlike many organizations, we rely on the kindness and generosity of people
who believe that compassion extends to every living creature. We receive no
guaranteed funding. Every rescue we perform, every fish we save, and every
life we change is possible because someone chose to help. By choosing to help
you are also helping to bring awareness to First responders and Veterans
suffering from PTSD.
